I pitch until I get an interview

“I wear my heart on my sleeve and also communicate openly to clients, especially if a particular announcement is not strong enough to get media coverage.” 100% herself and honest, that’s how we know Eef Leroy, senior PR consultant at All Colors of Communication.

Eef (38) is a natural born networker. First for several years as a journalist, today as a PR consultant. And she is very good at maintaining those contacts. Her most important customers are the journalists themselves: “When I have a good story, I search my network for a journalist who wants to bring my story to his or her readers. For this, I have enormous perseverance: I pitch until I get an interview.”

Although you would think that Eef is an extrovert, she considers herself rather an introvert. “It depends on how I feel and in which group of people I find myself. I may be a blabbermouth and I can sometimes say things without thinking, but it’s always with the best intentions.”

Curious and a bit impatient

“When I receive an email, I want to read it right away. Maybe that’s because I am a bit impatient, but above all I am curious. I find it important that clients know they are a key link in my job.” It should therefore come as no surprise that clients very quickly receive a reply in their mailbox. That speed of response is one of Eef’s strengths, because it means that she never misses out on opportunities.

Besides her strong points, Eef also understands where her weaknesses lie. As a result, she knows exactly when and where she needs help. “If there is something I don’ t know, I will never bluff but ask my colleagues for help. That has guided me through a lot of projects.” Of course, Eef also wants to return the favor to her colleagues: “When someone asks me to take over a task, I do so with pleasure. If I can manage my own workload.”

Family person

“My clients are a priority in my professional career, but in my private life my daughters always come first.” Maren (8) and Elte (6) – together with their dad Johan – complete Eef’s family life. As a mother, she puts her daughters above everything. This does her much credit and it also something all colleagues at All Colors of Communication are aware of. “Since we have kids, I automatically take less time for myself, although that is of course also important. I can really enjoy doing something for myself: eating out, going on a fun trip with family or friends, or visiting the sauna. But unfortunately that does not happen often enough, precisely because I love spending time with my girls.”
